Add Question

Clicking this button lets you add a new Question and Answer.

Question: The question the users will see in the Answer Center.

Keywords: Keywords are a list of keywords that do not show up in either the question or the answer but you want to associate with the question. If users search on a key word this question will be displayed in the results.

Views: The number of times this answer was viewed. This is used to sort the top list of questions when the user is browsing the content in the Answer Center.

Boost: This is a hint to the search engine. 1 is the default which means do not boost this question in the results. Less than one will make this answer fall lower in the search results. Greater than 1 will give this question more weight that it would normally have in the search results. Used only when you have specific information that you want to be sure your users see if they do a related search.

Active: If checked this question will be included in both the browse and search results. You can mark an answer as inactive if you do not want it to show up but want to keep it in the system.

Start Date: If you want to make this question active on a specified date you can enter a Start Date here. The system will automatically make the question active on the specified date.

End Date: If you want to make this question inactive on a specified date you can enter an End Date here. The system will automatically make the question inactive the day after the specified date.

Category: The category you want this question to be listed under. You can select an existing category from the dropdown or type in a category and it will be automatically created for you.

Answer: The answer to your question. You can use the rich text buttons to style the text as you like as well as create links within the answer.

Add Webpage

Clicking this button lets you add a new Question that has a webpage as the answer. The fields are exactly the same as the ones for Add Question except for URL.

URL: The fully qualified URL of the page you want the user to go to when they click on the Question. For example: http://sunbeamsoftware.com/getting_started.html.

Editing Content

Clicking on the content row will bring up the dialog to edit the content.

Export Content

Clicking on the Export Content button will allow you to save all your content locally on your computer. The file you export can be one of two formats.

HTML: HTML format will export a simple html file that looks like a regular, static html FAQ page.

CSV: CSV will export a file suitable for editing in a spreadsheet or text editing program. It is also the format that the Answer Center understands when Importing. You can use this as a basic local backup of all your content.

Import Content

Clicking on the Import Content button will allow you to import content from a file from your local computer. The format is as follows. The first row is for header labels and is ignored by the system when you import it.

category: The category for this question.

question: The question text.

answer: The answer text if this is a regular question and answer.

url: The answer if this is a webpage answer

keywords: The keywords associated with this question.

views: Number of view to set. See above for a description of this field.

boost: The boost number. See above for a description of this field.

last updated: The date this content was last updated in the form "2010-11-28"

created date: The date this content was orignally created in the form "2010-11-28"

start date: The start date for this question in the form "2010-11-28" See above for a description of this field.

end date: The end date for this question in the form "2010-11-28" See above for a description of this field.

active: true or false to make the question active or not. See above for a description of this field.

Search

The search bar will bring back the same result as if you were searching in the Answer Center widget on your site. An easy way to find the content you are looking for.

This will filter the result by category.
